God is making all things new. Will you join God’s shalom work so that all may flourish?
At Pennington Presbyterian Church, we believe that every Jesus follower is called to partner with God in bringing about the fullness of God’s reign for all people and all of creation. Regardless of where you are at in your spiritual journey, God’s Spirit has given you unique gifts, abilities, passions, influence, and resources to serve others and partner with God and the community in bringing wholeness for everyone. Together, we will see lives changed in extraordinary ways as ordinary folks roll up their sleeves and serve! To find out more about you can get involved in global outreach, fill out a Serve Form or check out some of our global ministry partners and work we have been involved with at PPC.
Our congregation has been involved with Living Waters for the World since 2009 when we recognized that most people in the world lack access to safe water. This Presbyterian organization strives to help partners from the USA and other countries install small water purification systems and educate communities on the health benefits of drinking safe water.
Pennington Presbyterian works with partners in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. We have collaborated on four water systems and helped to bring safe drinking water to thousands of children and adults. The churches we partner with assume the ongoing responsibility for operating the water plant, managing the small not-for-profit business and keeping their communities educated about uses of safe water (drinking, brushing teeth, caring for babies, and cooking), effective handwashing, and care of water bottles.
God’s love is expressed throughout these programs as everyone understands that they are entitled to receive God’s gift of healthy water. Our collective goal is to keep clean water flowing for years and years in communities, allowing a baby born today to grow into adulthood healthy and strong. Over 40 people from our congregation have participated in trips to the Yucatan in the last 12 years. The pandemic has meant we haven’t been able to travel in the past two years, but we stay in touch thanks to What’sApp, Facebook, and email.
Sole4Souls addresses the problem of systemic poverty in a creative way by creating sustainable jobs and providing relief through the distribution of shoes and clothes around the world. Since 2006, Soles4Souls has distributed 73.3 million pairs of shoes and pieces of apparel from going to waste, and distributed them in 129 countries and all 50 U.S. states. Our church has hosted a shoe drive to benefit Soles4Souls international micro-enterprise program as a tool to generate income. The micro-enterprise model offers a powerful and sustainable way for people to lift themselves and their families out of poverty.
