Pastor Nancy’s Message

Pastor and writer Karl B. Travis writes, “Generosity more than describes what God does.  Generosity describes who God is.”

It is God’s amazing generosity that motivates us to live our lives as disciples of Jesus and, out of deep gratitude, to support God’s ongoing ministry in our midst and in the world.

This brochure reminds us of who we are, God’s grateful people, living in response to God’s generosity. We worship, grow spiritually, extend God’s generosity in mission, and act with care and compassion for all.

Our Session invites you to another Coffee Cake Coffee Hour following worship on Sunday,   October 5 to hear a progress report on our discernment work with Project Regeneration.

Pledge Sunday is October 12. Please join together as we pray and recommit our lives to God through gratitude and increased giving and support for Christ’s ministry in 2026. –Pastor Nancy Mikoski

How your gifts are used

The pie chart shows the major areas of our ministry, and the percentage of our financial support applied to each.

In 2026, our overall financial need is projected to increase by at least 5%.

This is needed for support of our vital programs, missions, and spiritual well-being, and to cover the inflationary costs associated with facilities,       operations, and staff.

When deciding how you can best support PPC’s ministry needs, please prayerfully consider how God’s generosity has enriched your life, and how your generosity can be used to help enrich the lives of others.

Generosity is the transformational power that makes the things WE DO into what  WE ARE.

Worship

We joyfully worship God because of who God is and because of all the ways God is generous with us. Sunday by Sunday, people of all ages gather to hear the scriptures read and the good news proclaimed. We sing our faith and share in the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. As a church family, we offer up our joys and concerns for ourselves and for the world God loves in prayer.

Worship is for all of us and lead by all of us!  Our staff and a whole host of volunteers generously contribute gifts as liturgists,  musicians, greeters and ushers. Our tech team’s livestream ministry  enables many from here in the Hopewell Valley to stay connected to PPC and welcomes others from around the country and abroad.

Spiritual Growth

God wants to be known and loved by all people. Jesus Christ came into the world so that we may know God more fully and experience the amazing generosity of salvation. It is the joy of our staff and volunteers to respond to this generosity by providing weekly opportunities for spiritual growth for children, youth, and adults in   Sunday  School classes, the Shalom Bible study, small groups, and youth group.   During the summer we host the ever-popular ecumenical Vacation Bible School. Our aim is to develop disciples of Jesus Christ and equip each one to share the transforming love of Jesus Christ with  others.

Mission

It is amazing that God calls us to partner in Christ’s mission in the world! We have a role to play and we love participating! Our mission includes financial support of great ministries and also hands-on volunteering. Each grateful response to God’s generous love makes a difference.

We support numerous hunger ministries in Hopewell Valley and Mercer County and clean water efforts in the Yucatan through Living  Waters for the World.  We support young people in Trenton through Urban Promise, college scholarships, and with school supplies and book drives.

Each year, we donate to One Great Hour of  Sharing, an Easter Offering, a Peacemaking   Offering, and a special Christmas offering. These gifts further extend our commitment to Christ to the world.

Closer to home, we extend love and welcome to our own Pennington Presbyterian Church Nursery School, numerous scout groups, and with joyous participation at Pennington Day and the Holiday Walk.

Care & Compassion

As recipients of God’s generous love, it is only good and right that we share that love with others. The Blanket Team makes blankets for high school graduates. The Deacons sponsor care packages for college students and young adults. We offer transportation to medical appointments and coordinate a Meal Train for those in need of support following the birth of a baby or a hospitalization.

Cards of care, compassion, and congratulations go to members of the church family as well as to incarcerated women through our Pen Pal Ministry. Our minister provides care through home and hospital visitation, office time, and with cards and phone calls. Twice a year, a team takes home communion to our shut-ins. The Prayer Chain allows us to pray as one for those in particular need.

We also gather to build intergenerational friendships and to encourage health and well-being. Our Performing Arts Ministry Team, the   Pres-B Walkers, and our Potluck Ministry bring us together in love.

Our Potluck Suppers, Pres-B Walkers, and Theater Ministry teams actively promote care and fellowship within the church family.

At Pennington Presbyterian Church we believe stewardship is primarily an act of praise and thanksgiving. While the breadth of our ministry is dependent on the generosity of our donors, our tithes and offerings are given in faithful response to the love and grace of God.
