June 27- Pergamon

Today we were in the city of Pergamon. The church in this town was one of the seven churches that John wrote words of comfort and challenge to in the book of Revelation. It is best known for the advanced Hellenistic kingdom. It had the second largest library of the ancient world (200,000) and the first medical research hospital. It may be the only kingdom in the history of the world to be given to another kingdom, the Roman Empire, by a king.
We had fun going up to the top in a cable car and exploring the ruins. Later we went to a small museum to see statues and columns and other things. Right now the family is enjoying an infinity pool overlooking the Aegean Sea watching the sun set with Samos in the distance. So much beauty!
