Christian Education Hour

For Adults and Children

Current adult classes:

January through mid-may, the Bible and Theology class will be “Jesus through the Centuries”, studying how Jesus has been understood, worshiped, and depicted in art to help us to better understand him, and also ourselves. The class will be guided by “The Illustrated Jesus through the Centuries: His Place in History of Culture” by Jaroslav Pelikan. There is a Sunday 9 am and Thursday evening class which stay in step so that participants can attend either class depending on their schedule.

Thoughtful Christian topics usually change monthly. These are informal classes where participants discuss current events in the context of religion. In January, the topic from November 2018 is extended and the group will examine how to see events and people as God might see them. The discussion is jumping off from a book titled “A Lens of Love” by Jonathan L. Walton, and will use scenes from movies shown in class as the basis of discussion.

A parents’ discussion group is drawing on a book by Kathleen Long Bostron titled “99 Ways to Raise Spiritually Healthy Children”. this is another informal class. This group targets parents of younger children and the class meets near the childcare room and during the education hour while the children are in class themselves.
