Banner Outreach Project

Pennington Presbyterian Church Banner Outreach

If you have driven down South Main Street, you may have noticed a banner in front of our historic sanctuary building. The 4-foot by 8-foot banners with big blue messages are meant to communicate how we put in practice our Christ-centered faith. We want to welcome and show love to our neighbors raising children; to those struggling with mental health or addiction issues; to members of the LGBTQIA community struggling with equal treatment and full acceptance; to the immigrants among us yearning to be accepted as friends and neighbors and not strangers; and to other groups struggling for acceptance and understanding. We want all of our neighbors to know that we are an accepting and supportive congregation and will love them as Jesus taught us.

PPC Banner welcoming LGBTQIA+ community

LGBTQIA+ Banner says welcome to Pennington Presbyterian Church

In June 2018, our banner  welcomed persons who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, and asexual or aromantic +. (The “+” at the end of the acronym reflects that there are people in this community who do not fit neatly into one of these distinctions.) The banner is accompanied by a rainbow flag, the international symbol of LGBTQIA+ acceptance.
